Asked what he would say to parents of young children who were concerned that the imminent film of his Where the Wild Things Are might be too scary, he said: “I would tell them to go to hell.” For their children, he had the following message: “If they can’t handle it, go home. Or wet your pants. Do whatever you like.””

- If children’s stories aren’t scary, they’re failing their audience | Sam Leith | Books | The Guardian

Urban Mushrooms (via GamOvr)

Urban Mushrooms (via GamOvr)

How To Use An Apostrophe - The Oatmeal

How To Use An Apostrophe - The Oatmeal

re: Write Fight

Well, how I get things done anyway.

PvPonline » Archive » Write Fight

Bits like how Flaubert aspired to a ‘style that would enter your mind like a rapier thrust, and on which finally your thoughts would slide as if over a smooth surface …’, and to seek the original the described thing: ‘with a single word show me how one cab horse is different from the fifty others ahead or behind it.’

And then how Woolf wanted to depict not the external, but the interior life, except they hadn’t worked out ‘the tools’ yet.

Posted partly to increase the possibility that people would talk to me about it.

Ramona Falls - I Say Fever.
I keep coming back to this Sufjan-produced album.
