re: Write Fight
Well, how I get things done anyway.

This is generally how Guan and I get things done (and the spirit in which this blog was founded in the first place).
The Art of Prose Fiction
I think I need to read and reread this series from On Fiction (I, II, III) on the mechanics of style, and how to annotate the interior life of a character, then talk about it with someone.
Bits like how Flaubert aspired to a ‘style that would enter your mind like a rapier thrust, and on which finally your thoughts would slide as if over a smooth surface …’, and to seek the original the described thing: ‘with a single word show me how one cab horse is different from the fifty others ahead or behind it.’
And then how Woolf wanted to depict not the external, but the interior life, except they hadn’t worked out ‘the tools’ yet.
Posted partly to increase the possibility that people would talk to me about it.
On Footnotes in Fiction
I unbiasedly love footnotes: I think they further capture a something of the exploratory inquisitiveness that fiction is all about anyway.
The Welcome Wagon - Reverend Thomas Vito Aiuto plays ‘Deep Were His Wounds’
I keep coming back to this Sufjan-produced album. The interview’s great too, I love thathe comes across as a genuine, humble dude: ‘It just started as a way for Monique and I to sing to each other, sing to God.’
Okay you may be wondering why I have posted an ad for UK car insurance. It’s mainly because I love how they’ve animated this little dude (especially how he sings along to his own jingle). And also it’s Jennie’s fault for sending it to me in the first place.
Meerkats ahoy!
