Tuesday Melbourne was changing hotels but I should say downgrading because our new hotel, the Windsor but (Losez0rmoarlikeit), is a hole.
But at least it’s close to cool bookstores that take pride in their near-toppling stands of books and a short jaunt down to KoKo Black which we went to so Karen wouldn’t be mad and we hid from the lunch hour rush in a crumbly nondescript bakery that...

Monday Melbourne was sleeping a lot and finding the world’s smallest plague of ants, centralised on my laptop. It’s lunch at a hippie vego place with headwrapped staff and customers with ponytailovers. It’s fifty different trendy stores with beautiful things and not a single piece of ear pollution, all day. It’s a store with so many different presents, it was impossible to...

So apparently just because the Arts Center is on St Kilda Rd doesn’t mean you go to st kilda for look for it and do so by catching the tram for twenty minutes in the wrong direction.
But when we do get to the Famous Spiegeltent for the Melbourne Gospel Singers, M. is in tears within two minutes. To an arrangement of a Natasha Bedingfield song no less. No really, it was great.
But...

we got here (to the hatton) after a slightly stressed walk from the station because everything is further away when you’re lugging a suitcase and not sure where you’re going. people in this part of town look like film extras from an indie movie. even/especially if they’re pregnant. one steak sandwich and one nap (in a bed made of clouds) later and we are ready to conquer kilda...

These videos are mesmerising but after a few seconds my skin starts to crawl…just looks like plagues of insects crawling over the earth. Still, very cool.

Is Christian Bale destined to resurrect every action movie franchise with a tortured hero? Although it looks slick and cool, it also kind of looks like Batman (esp the motorcycle). And see if you can find my comment below the trailer… :)

Angry bored octopus goes wilding - Boing Boing →
I think I love octopi now. Bored and juggling hermit crabs? Genius!
bits
The best bits of sprte were the gentlest punch in the arm that said ‘I know you’re not doing great but hang in there’, and a bliss of chocolate with my bliss of a friend, and singing loud and unawares with a thousand other saints, and hiding away and reading a chapter of the Graveyard Book in my sleeping bag, and seeing my wonderful med students share and grow in wonder at and...

Also:
“So, it may please many of you to know the roster of voice talent that’s been assembled for next year’s English dub of Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, about a 5-year-old boy and his relationship with a goldfish princess who longs to become human. It’s a Japanese version of...
Churches should pay more. « 22 Words →
“Churches shouldn’t enforce a standard of sacrificial living by paying employees minimally. They should enable abundant, joyful generosity by paying them amply.” Amen. Add to that…any kind of Christian ministry, I reckon.
